I would love to see the rental facility.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. Please call the Rental Director at 720-865-0800 to set up an appointment. The Rental Director takes appointments
Monday-Friday from 9-4pm. Please note that if you stop by without
an appointment, staff and volunteers who are present cannot
answer questions regarding rentals.
I called and the Rental Director is out
of the office for the day/week. Who can I talk to in his/her
absence?
Only the Rental Director can quote prices, accept applications
and/or answer rental questions. This is a Monday-Friday position.
If the Rental Director is out of the office for an extended
period of time, the above may be achieved through the Executive
Director. Because of the potential for miscommunication, please
do not ask questions of individuals other than the Rental Director
(or Executive Director in the extended absence of the Rental
Director).
I haven’t quite made up my mind.
Can you “pencil me in” for a date?
No. Unfortunately, we cannot hold a date without a deposit and
application.
Do we have to use a caterer?
Yes. All rentals at Four Mile Historic Park must use a licensed caterer for their rental. For all private events, fundraisers
and other
non-daytime-business-meetings, the caterer must also provide
staff
present for the entire rental and must provide setup and cleanup.
Occasional exceptions are made for daytime business meetings
using the Meeting Room or Conference Room. However, these exceptions
must be
arranged through the Rental Director.
Do we have to use one of your Preferred
Caterers?
No. However, any caterer not on the Preferred List must meet
the following criteria:
How will my guests know where to go?
When sending out invitations to your guests, please specify
which area you have rented to ease confusion: Grant Hall, The
Meadow, The Grove or the Conference Room. Please note, that
no rentals take place in the Four Mile House museum!
Do you have a map I can use for my invitations?
Feel free to use this website’s map
for your invitations.
What kind of fun experiences can Four
Mile Historic Park offer for my rental?
We can offer horse-drawn rides on one of our many conveyance
(stagecoach, covered wagon, etc.); guided museum tours of Four
Mile House, Denver’s oldest standing structure; and historical
children’s activities. Contact the Rental Director for
more details.
Can I decorate?
Yes, you may decorate, however, we do have some restrictions.
Because they are hazardous if ingested by our livestock, we
do not allow the following for indoor and outdoor
rentals: inflatables of any type, including balloons and large
inflatable games; confetti; rice or glitter. Also, no tacks,
nails, tape or staples may be used to apply decorations to surfaces,
both indoor and outdoor. Plans for
decorations and supplemental lighting must be approved by an
authorized FMHP representative.
Can I have a DJ? Are there any restrictions?
There are no restrictions on your choice of DJ. For outdoor
rentals, music must be kept below 90 decibels to avoid scaring
the animals and causing neighborhood disturbances. For both
indoor and outdoor rentals, you must comply with requests from
Four Mile Historic Park staff to turn down music and/or keep
it at a reasonable level.
Can I drop off items before my event?
What about deliveries from rental companies?
Unfortunately, because of the numerous activities we have at
the park, items need to be brought in during your reserved rental
time. Occasionally, we can make an exception for the delivery
and set-up of tents, however, this must be
coordinated through the Rental Director at least 45 days prior
to the event.
Do you have a sound system, microphone,
digital projector, screen, etc. available for use?
Yes. Please contact the Rental Director for details and prices.
What about parking?
Our parking lot holds up to 70 cars. If given 45 days notice
to the Rental Director, we can also arrange for another 100
street spaces.
Are there restrooms available for my event?
Indoor rentals have use of the restrooms in Grant Hall (Men’s
and Women’s modern, 4 stall restrooms). Outdoor rentals
have use of one small restroom in the BeeHouse, as well as two
on-site portable toilets. For larger outdoor events, you may
want to consider renting additional restroom facilities.
May I have children at my event?
We love having children enjoy the experience of Four Mile Historic
Park. Children attending rental events do need to be supervised
by a parent or other adult at all times while on the property
to ensure their safety and the safety of our animals and buildings.
Four Mile Historic Park does not provide babysitting services.
Should your rental need a separate room for children/babysitting,
please coordinate this with the Rental Director.
May my guests and I smoke at Four Mile?
Smoking is strictly prohibited in the Grant Family Education
Center and on all Four Mile Historic Park grounds. Should there
be one or two people who feel the need to smoke, they may use
the parking lot area. You are responsible for informing and
enforcing this rule with your guests.
I have a guest who is disabled. What provisions
are made for this?
Currently, we can reserve any number of spaces in our parking
lot that a client wishes as “Handicapped” and we
have a paved sidewalk leading up to the Grant Family Education
Center. Once inside the building, we are 100% ADA compliant,
including restrooms. As we are an natural setting, outdoor areas
and facilities may be accessible depending upon a person’s
limitations. Unfortunately, the Four Mile House museum, because
of its historic nature, is not accessible by wheelchair, walker
or strollers. Also, although we do not generally allow dogs
and other animals on the Four Mile Historic Park property, we
do welcome those assisting disabled persons.
May I take photographs at Four Mile?
There are no photographs (digital
or film) allowed inside the Four Mile House museum building.
Photographs taken in other areas during a rental
event at Four Mile are allowed as long as they are not published,
sold for money or used in any way for monetary gain. Please
keep in mind that photography may not, in any way, involve touching,
climbing on or in any other way disturbing the animals or historic
buildings at Four Mile Historic Park.
Photography for the use of any type of publication
must be arranged through the Rental Director.
